On longer trips, we use an awning that is attached to the VW campervan via a slip-on fitting. As we want to be able to attach and detach it quickly, we don’t use either the piping strip or the tension cords for this.

The awning has a pole which we can secure in a matter of seconds using these brackets. This ensures the awning is securely attached to the van, making it rain- and storm-proof.

3D-printed items lose their mechanical properties when exposed to UV light and heat. That is why we use ASA plastic for the products in the CaliBulli range. This is more difficult to print, but lasts considerably longer in use. The bracket is designed so that it does not give way even in stormy weather, yet yields to the lever force of the pole to prevent damage to the vehicle.

Personally, I recommend the ‘ASA Signal Orange’ version, as it’s easier to spot and you’re less likely to forget it.

About this material

I rely on Prusament ASA for all components that need to withstand heavy use and where elasticity is not required. Printing with this material is more labour-intensive in terms of printer and resource usage, but the physical properties make it worth the effort to me. Thanks to the silk-matt finish, the components look very high-quality and elegant.
